Today has been a crazy day. Jack has spent most of the day in his car seat unless he was getting poked with a needle or getting his finger sliced by yours truly. Here's a little glimpse into our crazy lives.
9:20- Wake up. Run a straightener over the crazy parts of my hair so I can go a third day of not washing it.
9:33- Change Jack's diaper.
9:38- Rush out the door to get Adam to class by 9:45.
9:50- Trudge uphill to the bookstore with Jack in the stroller to buy an iClicker since my teacher can't take roll the normal way like every other teacher on campus.
10:00- Buy a terribly overpriced iClicker. Realize that the brakes were on for the front two wheels of the stroller, explaining why the walk up was so difficult.
10:15- Finally get a shower. First one since Tuesday :)
10:30- Give Jack Tylenol in preparation for the doctor's appointment.
11:20- Pick Adam up from class. Head to doctor's.
11:35- Jack gets admired by the nurse who weighs him and takes his temperature.
11:45- Dr. Prince tells me Jack is ahead developmentally, that I look less frazzled than I did six months ago and that I look skinnier than I did six months ago. My mental response: "Wait, so you thought I looked frazzled every other time you saw me? Why didn't anyone tell me I was looking frazzled?"
12:00- The Shots Nurse makes the first nurse who weighed Jack come in and help with the shots. Weighing Nurse reluctantly comes in to help, but really doesn't want to make Jack cry.
12:13- Needles get shoved into Jack's chubby legs.
12:15- Jack gets his first taste of a sucker, which makes the whole world better and makes him stop worrying about the pain in his legs.
12:30- Pick up another iClicker from Book Viking for 1/4 the price of the one I bought at the bookstore.
12:35- Pick up Taco Bell for lunch, since Adam was starved and shaking.
12:45- Go to class, where I get to use my cheap Book Viking iClicker.
1:45- Feed Jack in the car.
1:55- Arrive at Adam's meeting for his Dallas Internship Expedition.
1:57- Walk out of Adam's meeting since Jack is being too noisy.
2:15- Decide to be productive and trim Jack's finger nails.
2:17- Snip Jack's thumb. He wasn't very upset about it, but it was bleeding everywhere. He was more upset that I wouldn't let him use his thumb and that I kept dabbing it with a wet wipe.
3:00- Went to Walgreen's to get band-aids.
3:15- Took Adam to work.
4:00- Wrote a blog.
Congratulations if you read all of that. If you didn't, here's the summary: Today has been crazy. We've been switching off Jack from one of us to the other and making him bleed and cry all day. Surprisingly, though, through no fault of my own, he's been really happy and pleasant all day. He's met lots of new people, which is his favorite thing ever. He got sugar. And he recovered really quickly from the shots. He was laughing on the way out.
What I'm trying to say is, Jack is the best baby ever. And I think Dr. Prince was wrong. Today, I'm more frazzled than I was when Jack was a newborn.
The battle wound
The happy, brave warrior
The band-aid didn't last long after he woke up from his nap, but at least the bleeding has stopped.
