Winter Blues

When my alarm went off this morning at 7:00, I knew it would be a better idea to stay in bed all day. Boy was I right. Instead of following my instinct, I got out of bed. I walked outside to what some call a winter wonderland, but I know better. The snow just kept coming down all day. Rexburg's wet, messy snow differs greatly from Utah's powdery, "Best Snow on Earth" snow. Rexburg's snow turns straight into slush.

Well, Jack and I braved the weather while Adam was in class. I went grocery shopping and came home soaked from trudging through the parking lots. Wet shoes. Wet socks. Wet pants. Hate it.

Eventually the day took a turn for the better, though. I realized that we didn't take any pictures yesterday of just Jack. So I got him back in his outfit and took some cute pictures of the blessing boy.

 LOVED the shoes.

Then the day took a turn for the MUCH better. Food has a tendency to do that for me... We had a delicious, decadent meal tonight. I'm full, but thinking about it makes me want to go warm up the left overs. Get this: We had prosciutto wrapped sirloin cubes with an awesome mustard pan sauce on top and parmesan herbed orzo on the side.

This meal did wonders for my mood. So if you're feeling the winter blues wrap yourself up some beef sirloin. Here's the recipe if your mouth is watering the way mine is right now. Oh, and Janelle, this is a completely stove-top made meal.

Blessed

Adam gave a beautiful blessing today. I really admire his public speaking abilities. He gave a wonderful blessing and then jumped right up afterward to bear his testimony. I got up to give my testimony too, but it was an internal battle for about 25 minutes before I finally talked myself into it. Then once I was up there my feet were literally shaking in my boots. I'm glad I did it though.

It was a wonderful day filled with lots of family, great friends, good food, and fun.

Rule Breaker

Is it breaking my one-a-day rule to do two blog posts in a day? I forgot to post this super cute picture of Jack that I took yesterday.

 Doesn't he look OLD?

Ok, that's it for the day. Tomorrow there will be blessing pictures.

Here Comes The Family!

2 Months

Little Baby Jack is two months old today! I just think he's so fun and sweet. I woke up for my class this morning at 7:00 and found Jack is his bassinet just looking around. When I said "Good morning, Jack!" He just lit up. I really didn't want to go to class. I just wanted to snuggle with him in bed. But when I got home, he was still just looking around content as can be. When I greeted him, he started beaming at me again. I just love him!

At the ripe old age of two months:

-Jack loves to smile and coo in the morning time.
-Sometimes he giggles in his sleep and it just makes my entire day.
-He usually sleeps for at least five or six hours, but sometimes he goes eight whole hours.
-He doesn't usually spit up, but last night he did a number on our couch.
-Jack loves to be tickled on his face, especially when silly noises accompany it.
-I play a game where I pinch his cheeks and say "A cheeky week. A cheeky week. A cheeky weeky weeky." Then I do his toes, ears, nose, and chin. He thinks it's super funny.
-In the afternoon he likes to hang out on his boppy and say "Oh, oh, oh" when he thinks no one is listening.
-He's REALLY cute!!!

Auntie Courtney's Here!

Now Jack just needs to meet Uncle Andrew on Saturday and Uncle Jake in 18 months. The family is going to start pouring in this weekend for the blessing and we're SO excited! Family is the best.

Lessons Learned

1. Don't keep spaghetti on the top shelf.

2. If you do keep spaghetti on the top shelf, then cut the hole at the top of the bag instead of the bottom so that next time you pull it down you don't think the bag is unopened.

3. Babies grow really fast. Before you know it, your two-month old will be wearing 3-6 month clothes.

4. If you don't know anything about either of the candidates you're voting for, pick the one with the best name, like Donna Jones.

5. Jack is the cutest baby in the world.

6. Maybe I can do the blog a day thing.

Bath Time and a Noncommittal Goal

I had 24 blog posts last month. That's a lot! So that's got me thinking... I'm going to try doing a blog a day. It shouldn't be hard because pictures of Jack make a sufficient blog post. But still, I'm not ready to commit because some days I just don't have time. So don't quote me on it or call me out when I mess up one day. But one a day is what I'm going for. So check back tomorrow. And until then here are some post-bath pictures of Jack.

Halloween

We drove down to Utah for a family Halloween party this weekend. We had a lot of fun playing Ghost, Ghost, Goblin and Monster, May I. Adam and I both love Halloween and we love dressing up. Adam, in particular, puts a lot of thought into every detail of the costumes. What a fun Halloween!

Aren't they the coolest grandparents for dressing up? My dad was in character the whole afternoon.
Count Drake-ula, the witch, and all the grandkids.
